Sounds like he was smoking something. What, I cannot speculate on, since there are so many things being smoked out of tinfoil these days...

Drug use is the most obvious.
There's also wrapping food heated by a lighter and labeling it...

You're being incredibly naive. Even if drug use didn't immediately occur to you, why did you comply with his request? You didn't find any of that odd?
