My period after I had my daughter lasted for 6 weeks. Normally, yes, things do go back to normal after a vaginal tear. It just takes time. It took me a year to heal, however, as I tore really, really bad (it took them a half an hour to stitch me up), and I still have pain in the scar area (my daughter is now 2 years old), but for most people, yes things do go back to normal and you have no lingering effects of the tear.

Its not a period, its bleeding. You wont have a period for a couple months yet.
Generally you'll bleed for around 6 weeks after giving birth. Your stitches and everything should be back to normal after then.

I stopped bleeding at six weeks. Wanted to resume sex at about four but waited. It took about two and a half months for things to feel normal again.

after birth you bleed quite heavy at first because your uterus sheds its lining and contracts. loss usually continues for 4-6 weeks but can last up to 9 weeks.
