It's not the "truth", that makes things go wrong. It's not being honest about what you want, need and feel. If there is something going on that someone feels they need to hide, the problems have already started. I am 47 years old. I am married to my 3rd husband, and it is the greatest relationship I have ever had. Why? Because we have both learned from past experience to just be HONEST. Hiding things, even little things, just comes back to bite you in the a**. We can talk about ANYTHING, and there is nothing that cannot be worked out through communication.

If telling the truth makes things worse and hurts someone, then it is not. However, if you've done something wrong, and you need to confess your sins to the person you've done wrong to, then you can wait until you sense a good moment, and then tell them.

It depends on what it is. Are you telling the truth to hurt the other person? Do you want to hurt them in order to make yourself feel better? Or do they need the information (the truth) in order to make a decision to stay with you or leave you?

That all depends. Be very careful with lies and the truth, make sure that it is something that you know would definetely be damaging for the relationship before considering a lie instead of the truth.

sometimes being honest is the most selfish thing you can do. if you've messed up and someone you love is going to suffer from it, you might want to try keeping it to yourself and suffering and paying your penance that way!
