I don't know if I could call it having a sense of humor, but my father was a building contractor.

He had a cute little black mongrel. that he always took to work with him.

He would tell his dog to go get his hammer or his sack of nails, etc. and he would run and fetch them.

He sat right with my dad waiting for the his next fetch.

His dog always slept at the foot of his bed.

It was cute to see how tender my dad was with his dog.

He was his best friend.

Thanks for the question.

Yes I have a cat "Katy" who has a good sense of humor. Every time she uses her litter box (it's the privacy kind) - she sits on top of it and complains until I clean it out for her! She also thinks she' a dog and can play 'fetch' with soft woolly balls I make for her. She will run the entire length of the hall, living room (large) and kitchen to retrieve her ball. And then she brings it to me in her mouth - meowing all the way! And she DOES smile - I've seen it so many times.

My cat has a sense of humor! LOL...he likes to cavort around the house and then pick up stuff in his mouth and prance around with it...he KNOWS he looks silly and loves it when I laugh at him!

He also shows NO sense of humor when he attempts a maneuver and comes sliding off a wall in a great big heap...when I laugh his tail goes between his legs and he creeps away...

Yep, animals know humor AND the lack of it! LOL

My horse, if I was close enough to him he would oh so gently grab a chunk of my hair and pull on it - when i scolded him he would do that horse thing where they flap their lips/gums at you and have a big toothy grin - he also once licked me - from my waist right up to the top of my head leaving a lovely trail of green fresh hay slime behind - and then flapped his lips at me again. He was such a lovely horse, great personality.

My dog used to hide his soggy disgusting rawhide chew under my pillow, and he could do it so you wouldnt even know he had been in the bed, never messed it up - then when I went to bed he would stand on the foot of it grinning, bright eyed and wait for me to find it, stick my hand under my pillow and encounter this revolting wet soggy thing - and when i did and yelled he would leap straight in the air and take off out of the bedroom - i swear i could hear him giggling in the LR for an hour afterwards. He was so smart he didnt do it EVERY night - he knew if he did it wouldnt be a surprise -

I don't know if this is a sense of humor, but my female German Shepherd mix trades. If I'm eating a snack she wants some of, she goes to her box and pulls out a dog biscuit, lays it on my lap and steps back...grinning. My vet doesn't believe me.

Ever hear a ferret laugh? I had two before moving north. The male, Buddy, loved to sneak up on me by climbing up the arm of the couch, run behind me, tickle my ear then run off. Or he'd come from out of nowhere, run in front of me, stand up and laugh then take off again. A laughing ferret sounds like a soft "heh heh heh". Cracked me up every time.

I had a huge (18 pounder), long haired beastie of a cat. Her name was Baby. Long white hair with carmel and black spots and a carmel/black ringtail.

She thought she was the "Queen of All Things"....she also thought she was a ballerina. Being large, she was not quite an nimble as the ordinary cat and, when leaping mightily from a high place to floor level, she often hit her chin.... She would pick herself up, straighten her neck, lift her tail and arrogantly walk away with as much dignity as she could muster.

This great cat would play "Catch". She loved you to toss a rolled up ball of aluminum foil or a crumpled cigarette pack. She would run, pick it up, bring it back and leave it in your lap, waiting anxiously for you to throw it again.

She also had a love affair with Q-Tips. She would carry one around in her mouth for hours. When she would lay down, she'd place the Q-Tip across her front paws and lay her head down on top of it.

She would stand on her hind legs and reach for treats and nibbles...and would walk across the kitchen following it....

Baby was an extraordinary cat and lived to be 14 years old. She's been dead for 10 years and I still miss the little comedian.

I have two cats, the younger one was always pestering the older one to play and mostly he wasn't interested. One day there was a grocery bag on the floor, and the younger cat got in it and was reaching out and batting old cat's tail. The old cat peered in there to see what was going on, and then he promptly sat on the opening of the grocery bag and proceded to just sit there and take a leisurely tongue bath. The young cat couldn't get out and the old one didn't let him until he was good and ready. I swear that cat had a smirk on his face.

i do not know if you consider this a sense of humor or just smart but one of my pet goats pepper when she want extra hay will hook her horns through one of the plastic hay boxes and bring it up to the house and stand by the fence until some one goes out and fills it with hay -- the other dumbies have not figure out this trick yet!!!!
