In my younger years I was a member of the Young Republicans and thought I had all the answers....now I lean toward the Democrats because I think they have more of a social conscience than the Republicans...who have what I call a Martha Stewart attitude: "I've got mine, you figure out how to get yours!"

Modernly, the Democrat Party has stood for big government reform; protection of minority rights; decreasing government spending/reducing the National Debt; and diplomacy in dealing with international affairs, as opposed to blindly lashing out and destroying the governments of Third World Nations.

i'd say....

"For the most part I don't like them, but I have to vote for them in 08' because I'm disgusted with my own political party after the past 7 years!"

This is coming from a republican that is disgusted and amazed by the ignorance and poor decisions of the bush administration.
