They were both very good runners, and Franco obviously had more fan support (Franco's army). Franco took the punishment better, but I think Earl put out more punishment. Like that classic play where he just buried his head in a guys chest and the guy just went down. He ran through a lot of people. It's really hard, but I'm going to have to go with with Franco just because the rings, which does mean a lot.

Earl Campbell was the better running back but Franco was put in a better situation in Pittsburgh and has the hardware to show it.

Earl Campbell was probably the best running back who ever played the game. It was heartbreaking for me to watch him when he played the Sooners; it seemed like the man could not be tackled. It was a shame that he got dumped into the Houston Oilers; it seemed like the only play that they had was toss the ball to Earl and get out of the way. He burned out way too quick. The only one that came close was Billy Sims.

For all of Earls accomplishments,,,,sadly Franco does have a Super Bowl Ring, and played longer......does that show who the better one is? maybe Earl can be the better tobacco chewer of the two, with his old skoal ads.

Good old school question!!!!!!! They were both great backs but in different ways. I give the edge to Earl the Pearl though on his determination, power and heart!

Tough question. Harris was a scat-back with good hands while Campbell was a punishing runner. I'm saying that they were both the best at what they did.
