As title, I make sure I don't move the mouse or press any of the keys. I've notice in my Power Options from the Control Panel that under the UPS (uninteruptable power supply) tab it has an exclamation mark and says the UPS service is currently stopped.

In Power Options (Control Panel), I have my Power Schemes set to:
Turn monitor off after 10 minutes
Turn off hard disk after 1 hour
System Standby: never
I have the same message on the UPS tab.

For the screensaver, I have:
screensaver blank
wait 3 minutes

My monitor goes black after 3 minutes of inactivity, and returns when I move the mouse.

I have no problems with these settings.

- An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is a device that allows your computer to keep running for at least a short time when the primary power source is lost. It also provides protection from power surges. A UPS contains a battery that "kicks in" when the device senses a loss of power from the primary source. If you are using the computer when the UPS notifies you of the power loss, you have time to save any data you are working on and exit gracefully before the secondary power source (the battery) runs out. When all power runs out, any data in your computer's random access memory (RAM) is erased. When power surges occur, a UPS intercepts the surge so that it doesn't damage your computer.
Software is available that automatically backs up (saves) any data that is being worked on when the UPS becomes activated.

I do not have a "UPS" and obviously you don't either.

I'd Run Windows Updates first. In Internet Explorer go to Tools>Windows Update. Also you can research it at www.microsoft.com Once there Click on support on the right, then click on knowledge base, Choose your product and type in standby or UPS service is currently stopped. Check out the results to find a match to your problem.
