Most banks will open an account for minors as long as the minor has some sort of photo i.d., such as a drivers license or a school id. Is it possible for you to go to another bank to see if you can open an account with them ... take a photo i.d. and your social security card. Also, talk to your employer about your situation. Maybe they can make arrangements with the bank they use (the bank your check is written on) for you to cash it there, if it's close enough.

Sure, but stay away from check cashing services: they will charge you an arm and a leg.

Some supermarkets will cash your check if you shop there and have a valid ID. Some banks will too.

But why don't you open a small savings account with a bank? It only takes a few dollars and will get you started saving. You are then their customer and they will cash your checks.

You should be able to cash your check at the bank it was written from. Example: your company banks with SunTrust Bank and the logo is on the check, you should be able to go there and cash it. They will ask for ID and maybe a thumb print (the thumb print kit will be provided at the bank). Or you can try one of those check cashing places..they have them at grocery stores or liquor stores. Or-Your company may have a relationship with various banks and you may be able to cash it at one of those banks. Ask your company where you can cash it and they may give you some banks that you can go to.

I had bank accounts when I was 16 to cash my paycheck. If there is only one bank in your town, claim age discrimination, else go to a different bank.

If you successfully petition a court to make you an "emancipated minor" (research this term), then the bank will let you open an account at any age.

Ask your grandparents to open a savings account for you. Then you can save your money so when you are old enough you can leave home.
