Why do people get angry?

They get angry when they are adversely inconvenienced by somebody or something, and anger is an emotional response that is intended to incite action from whoever it is that is inconveniencing them. Even when somebody gets angry after somebody disagreed with them, they are inconvenienced in that they are meeting more resistence than they were prepared for. Anger is an offensive posture that tells the other person that force or violence should be expected if something doesn't change. Anger, in other words, is a way to manipulate people into performing an action.

But first things that come to mind:
Cognitive dissonance, when people receive information that conflicts with their beliefs, that may piss people off.
When people act aggressively towards someone else.
Can't think of any more right now.

I think a lot of the reason has to do with the way people are raised.

Of course there are chemical reasons that go beyond my answer as well.

unable to control that certain emotion when something bad happens or when someone hurts them physically or emotionally, it's the brain way of defending this overload of adrenaline and emotion.
