I bought a wireless router a few months ago, but im unable to set it up.

The router i have is: D-Link DSLG624M 108Mbps MIMO ADSL 2 / Router Firewall / 4 Port Switch

And my isp is: toucan

the reason for setting up this router is to allow my wii to connect to the interent, but i have had no luck.

i have been told that my router wont work with my isp, but i have also been told it would.

any help with any of this would be great!
Cheers!

Well, you are correct in the idea it may have something to do with your MODEM.

This router should REPLACE the modem. It has one built into it! If you are trying to use your current modem with it, you won't get it to work. (I had to look up its specs to find this.)

The proper setup is DSL LINE ---> YOUR ROUTER ---> Computers. (Notice the router is the modem!)
You can't use two modems just one!

Now to whether this modem/router is compatible with Toucan, I have no idea? It should be,but getting the correct information from Toucan is the only way you will get it setup. IE, what connection (DHCP, PPPoE, which level of DSL etc!) You need to give them a ring to find out. Or Give DLinks Tech support a ring either way you will need to know Toucans settings!

Your other option is getting a USB router, with USB on the WAN port, which the modem would connect directly into then keep your current modem.

Good Luck - Hope This Helps

OK, we needed to split OUR internet to get internet to our basement and we had the same problem. My dad eventually googled the router's name and called their 1-800 number and talked to an operater who gave him step-by-step intrucitons on how to do it.

call the 800# on the router.

MOST, MOST importantly block your router from any foreign access, because the 13 year old behind me was sucking off my internet to download porn onto his psp. ewwww...
