my best friend's dad died this morning. i have already been over to her house and hung out with her and talked with her about it. i really want to get her something, just a little something to make her a little less sad, even though thats probably not possible. but what should i get her? flowers? bake her a cake? any ideas?

thanks

Go to the bookstore and find something that will comfort her - Chicken Soup for the Soul, quotes, daily devotions, a book about surviving grief, etc.
And then give it to her with a heart-felt card and your offer to just listen anytime she needs it.

It's not really necessary to buy your mourning friend anything, because it's not really traditionally a gift-giving cause. Spend some time together making crafts, baking, shopping. Try to get her mind off the death of her dad, because I'm sure this has been really hard on her. This is when she needs you the most, so show her that you really care and be the best best friend you can be :)

do toy have any pictures of her and her dad?
if you do you can get a locket shaped as a heart or anything and put their pictures in it.
and give her the locket.
it sybolies that no matter how far away he may seem, he is always close to your heart.

i hope this helps,
and just make sure you are there for your friend.
she needs so more than ever.

for a friend who just lost her dad your right there really isnt much you can do to make her feel better but there are little things that you can do to comfort her.....try being there with her as much as possible.....sometimes a friend wont ask for company cause they are afraide to ask........they think they can deal with it on there own. get some ice cream sit and talk with her about anything she wants to talk about...if she dosent want to tlak about her dad dont push it.....just be there thats all you can do

I think you needn't really give her anything material. Just be there for her, show her you care by helping her out, being a shoulder to cry on. Listen to her. Be kind and understanding.
