you can long for something you never had, but you cannot possibly miss something if you havent had it yet.

I had a dream once that I won the lottery. Of course I never had the money in my waking life, but I still missed what I thought I had in my dream.

So my answer is yes. You can miss something you never had.

My Mother died giving birth to me.


I never knew her...but miss her, I suppose.

Maybe it is more akin to I feel like I missed out on something instead?

It is difficult to say....

i would have to say it's possible...you could miss something that you could have had, but didn't really have....which means, you didn't have it at all....so, yes, it's possible.
