well in commerce bank they have tons of pens in cups and I usually steal one (or a few)

Their money is insured. The pens aren't. And those pens are expensive! They wouldn't want someone to steal their $.50 pen now would they???
Edit: The door is OPEN, not unattached. Folks, re-read the question. The asker is saying they leave the door to the vault open...i.e. the place where all the money is...so, you know, people could go take the money. Who cares if they take a 2-ton DOOR, it's the money behind it.
