I just went to Las Vegas in Nevada and went on top of the Stratosphere! It was so cool, you could see the whole Vegas. But why did they name this tALL hotel/casino/building STRATOSPHERE? Please help me figure this out!

Besides being a region of the earths atmosphere, it is a word that usually means its the highest you can possibly get on a scale when it comes to business for example.

Bob Stupak owned Vegas World - The "Stratosphere Tower" was his idea. The only thing was, he wanted to put the tower next to that dump of a hotel/casino he owned.
The people who bought Stupak out were intelligent enough to bulldoze(implode) that dump and build the Stratosphere hotel along with the tower. In their words "putting that tower next to the Vegas World hotel would be like putting the Washington Monument next to a Texaco station"

It's a part of the earth's atmosphere. They call it that because it's so tall. It's supposed to make you think you're in the earth's stratosphere.
