Pro-wrestling is indeed a sport. In order to be a pro-wrestler it does take some athletic ability and a lot of time devoted to training. Not everybody can do it, both for physical or mental/stress reasons. Some of these guys are really over-worked to the death and it does take it's toll on themselves and their family. Always working out, performing, traveling on the road, interviews.. it all adds up and I do feel for these guys.

While there has been some dishonorable incidents in pro-wrestling the whole industry is not at fault. Some of those pro-wrestlers are really good men and women both in and out of the ring.

It's a shame today that we have many pro-athletes dropping dead under the age of 40 in almost every sport; wrestling, football, basketball, baseball... something is definitely going on.

I hear alot of others who say that it's scripted, fake, but it's not accredited with any national or pro sports league, it's called wrestling entertainment.

Scripted, fake or not, it takes athleticism to execute these high intense maneuvers, jumping off the ropes and such, they do risk injury and even death if something goes wrong.

I agree with your assessment of pro-athletes dropping like flies before 40, something is up.

Just because something requires talent and some athletic ability doesn't mean it's a sport. It's entertainment and it's no more of a sport than the acrobat's performance at a circus.

A sport is defined as "an individual or group competitive activity involving physical exertion or skill, governed by rules, and sometimes engaged in professionally." The difference between pro-wrestling and a sport is that any "rules" that exist in pro-wrestling are a facade, as everything is scripted, and I'd also like to add that for an activity to be a sport, the winner(s) must be decided by their ability, not by a team of writers or by monetary incentives given to it's participants to under-perform.

pro-wrestling is a sport, but WWF is entertainment. There is a difference. A REAL wrestler would NOT "act" like the TV personalities of "pro-wrestling".
