Are there any hobbies that she abandoned when she got married or had children? For instance, when your mom was younger, did she have a passion for painting, sports, or animals? Did she stop spending time on these because they didn't seem "practical", or because she didn't have time for them anymore?
If your dad, grandparents, or one of your mom's siblings is around, you might want to ask them if there are any interests your mom had that she has long forgotten. Then, get her something to remind her of that part she has neglected so she will pick it up again and attend to that part of herself.
It is so easy for women to neglect who THEY are while they are attending to the needs of their children and their partners.
Good luck, and Merry Christmas.

I like to get my mom a gift certificate to a salon. She loves getting her hair done, and she'd never have gone if my sister hadn't started it. Now thats all my mom wants. The amount you put on the card really doesn't matter.
For example, if I gave my mom $20 to the salon, she'd have to pay maybe another $20 to get her hair done.
But you might also try to find good pictures of you and any siblings you have, and personalize some picture frames for her.

It depends if you're looking for something to wrap or just to spend time with her.
You could get her a personalized name necklace or bracelet with her birthstone: http://www.brightandbold.com/penabr.html
Or if you want to spend time with her, then give her a "certificate" for an at-home spa day for the 2 of you and buy a bunch of spa-related products, good coffee, bakery items (chocolates or finger food), a relaxing cd... then spend the day together and do each other's nails, give massages, pedicures, hair treatments, facial masks.... you can take it as far as you want! Play the music, munch on bakery and coffee and talk the day away!!
Have fun!
