If you do not want to sign the papers he can take you to court and have a judge make you do it.

Yes. Tell the person who is getting divorce to make it easy on themselves and get an attorney NOW or they will be out a lot of money and maybe even a house.

Yes, if you refuse to sign, it will go to court. My question is, other than not coming to an agreement pertaining to divorce arrangements (money, dividing of assets, etc), why would anyone fight to stay in a marriage when the other party wants out? I don't want to make someone who doesn't want to be with me stay.

Yes he can. Eventually the court can grant him a divorce without your signature. There is no law that says people HAVE to remain married until they die here in the U.S. that would go against "ther pursuit of happiness".

If you refuse to sign the papers, it can get very messy and expensive with a large chunk of the money going to lawyers.

YES if there no children involved and property problem solved. If she refuses-to sigh the papers.the judge will order her to court,to show just cause for her refusal. If she still refuses.he will
find her in contempt of the court.HE MIGHT SAY
3 days in jail, and and a $ fine/or sign.but more than likely he will just grant the divorce.

Yes......
You husband can divorce you without your consent.

But there was steps he must take.
1. He must put an ad in the newpaper
where he lives, letting you know he is going to divorce you, so you must look for that add!!!!!!!!!!!!! He will have to run the ad for a few weeks, he will be hoping you don't respond. If you respond and speak with his lawyer, then in certain states he cannot divorce you.
But he will probably be tricky, so my advice would be to find out who his lawyer is and speak with that person and let them know you don't want a divorce... But I must say there are always holes he can wiggle through, so if he wants a divorce, he will get it, eventually....
