It's not important who let it happen- but only the fact that it did.
And of course the Holocaust has happened again, and had before that too. There have been numerous genocides throughout history. And what about Darfur- right now?
It's humanity. Imperfection breeds imperfection.

Who 'lets' anything happen in the first place? Who 'let' the US government give small pox laced blankets to cold natives? Who 'let' Enron executives run of with millions in retirement funds leaving thousands of Enron fixed incomers penniless?

What happens is the result of the same internal conflict happening in you right now. You want 'happiness' and will do what ever it takes to get it. Now multiply that desire to the size of a nation.

That's like saying: "Never put your hand in fire again"...ya think?!!! Ignorance, hatred and fear is the reason the holocaust happened the first time. And because some of us are still ignorant, full of hate and fear...it's still happening...it just happening in other places.

You asked an interesting question.

You are implying that blame was possible for bad things that happened in the past, that even in our current times, we can be therefore blamed for a similar occurence if we did not curtail similarities?.

the statement refers to those who saw it it happening , but it was happening to other people, so nothing was done
its the same with other things, racism, bullies, etc etc, you may think its wrong, but may not speak out on it, until it hits home, or until you see people being killed due to it, but really, its better to speak up when you see the first signs of disrespect for anyone
