iphone doesnt work with any sim card. only works with the sim card included in the iphone. put back the one that originally came with the iphone and try to activate it again. if that sim card is not available to you, contact AT&T if you are in america or O2 if you are in UK, to get a new sim card.it is normal not being able to connect to itunes with a different sim card. dont worry about the damage error message. its a normal procedure

U wont regret getting the s4 but take a look at the samsung galaxy note 2. It is the best phone u can get. Just as good as the s4 only better. It has the s pen stylus which is so useful I couldn't imagine a phone without one now and its not too big fits in yr pocket fine and once uv had a large screen phone u ll never go back to a normal size phone like an iphone. Samsung phones the battery last 2 days between charges 4 an average user, iphone battery sucks. Plus the battery is removable in a samsung which means if yr using yr phone hard and run low on battery u can just swap to a spare one. And u can boost the memory of a samsung cheaply with a micro sd memory card, u cant with iphone. U ll never get bored of a samsung there's so many features. Check out the online reviews of the s4 and note 2, youtube has some great reviews.

Is your carrier AT&T? If not, you'll need to find someone who can hack the phone and unlock it or switch to AT&T.
If your carrier is AT&T (or even if you get the phone hacked) you may have an older SIM card that is incompatible with the iPhone. iPhones and most smart phones and PDAs won't work with the older 32k SIM cards. If that's the case you'll have to get a current SIM from AT&T. The local AT&T store should be able to hook you up, though bear in mind you may need to sign a new 2-year agreement to get that.
Before buying a used phone you should ALWAYS test it with YOUR SIM card first and ensure that it works.
