I have a 10 gal tank that is about 4 months old - with and assortment of about 10 mollies/platys. I have recurrent brown algea and I can't seem to get rid of it. I clean the tank every sunday and do a 25% water change and vaccum the gravel. I scrub the tank walls and remove the algae and in 3 days or so it's back! I am running an air stone, and 20 gal filter because of the amount of fish I have in the tank. The water is not murky, and is very clear actually....I have heard it's because I have too much light- then I hear that I don't have enough light! I just don't know how to get rid of it aside from what I'm doing already. Any suggestions....thanks!

i have a aquarium with brown algae, its ok, its present in almost every tank all year round, just clean the walls when it comes back, maybe some sucking plecs will help, and yea avoind sunlight thats almosrt inviting algae and the gang over, and have your aquarium light on 6-12 hours a day to avoid rapid rworth, so you will have most likely poor water conditions or to much natural light.

My AC's get the comparable way. this is basically like a brown algae or diatoms. it could in many situations be reason from the surplus in nutrition, and since the filter out tube won't get a lot of sunshine, brown algae can strengthen in low lighting fixtures furnishings. maximum suitable component to do is get your self a pipe cleansing gadget or a toothbrush, and scrub the interior the tubes. it won't harm your fish in any way, so do not trouble approximately it too plenty..

I have brown algae in my cichlid tank which doesn't contain any live plants, but i don't experience any brown algae in my 10 gallon tank
which i think the reason for it is that i have live plants in there
try putting live plants in there, and see if it helps

Hope that helps
Good luck
