Try 50's rock 'n' roll. Not obscure, but I don't think you'd know many songs.

Chuck Berry - Johnny B. Goode
Little Richard - Tutti Frutti
Elvis Presley - Hound Dog
Bo Diddley - Bo Diddley
Buddy Holly - That'll Be The Day
Carl Perkins - Blue Suede Shoes
Eddie Cochran - Summertime Blues

Heart - Magic Man, Straight On, Barracuda, Crazy On You
Todd Rundgren - Hello It's Me
Elvis Costello and The Attractions - pretty much anything is good! I think there is a greatest hits album with all of the classic goodies on it.
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers
10cc - I'm Not In Love - cheesy 70s rock ballad. Awesome.

Go deeper into the Pink Floyd catalog with Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Music From the Film More, Ummagumma, Obscured by Clouds etc.
Also, try digging into Progressive rock with Yes, ELP, King Crimson, Eloy etc.

You might consider this more 'motown' than classic rock, but I love classic rock as well, and fell in love with this song when I heard it. Its by the Temptations - "Papa Was a Rolling Stone".

Go to The All Music website and check out the song samples from the collection "Nuggets: Original Artyfacts From the First Psychedelic Era 1965-1968 "A lot of these are hidden treasures of rock and roll.
