As related to Y!A.
I typically give a question a star if it made me think beyond a simple yes or no. I guess interesting to me, as related to this question, means thought-provoking.
I see a great number of questions that I give stars to that others don't, even though they have delivered a long, detailed answer.

mommyman, good point. There are questions I have seen that prompt me to ask questions of my own. I like those questions.

for me its questions that I would like to have asked, but perhaps couldnt find the words etc.
also sometimes folks will give a long answer just for the sake of actually helping or providing info to the asker.
and then also, there are times when you star a question only to see how your contacts would answer it.
(sometimes I star questions I dont even bother to answer)
nice q
got a star

LOL. Interesting question. I've just recently joined Y!A and haven't yet starred any questions, tho' typically I don't answer a question unless I find it interesting or it ask specifically for information I can offer. To me any question that makes me think and define my opinions and ideas better is an interesting one and I usually get quite carried away in making an answer to those. I'll refrain from doing that this time.

I say that a question is interesting if I'm interested in it. I don't star every question I'm interested in, though. I only star the ones that are REALLY interesting, and that I want to have another look-see at to see what other people say and who gets picked as best answer.

I find myself giving a similar answer in that if I can give more than a sentence for an answer it has my interest. And if makes me think or provokes another question from me... then it gets a star.
There are questions that would be better suited for other Y!A subjects... but how do we know that someone didn't post here because they rather have an answer from people who actually think. To dismiss them would be stifling their interest in understanding something.
Thanks for making me think

If I have to think a bit about the question before responding I'll usually give it a star.

If a question strikes a chord with me, whether it be something serious or something humorous, I will usually give it a star. That is, if I think to do it...

If it is asked in an intelligent manner, for one.
If it seems to be well thought out, not just accusatory OR if it is something I feel strongly about and wish to TRY to educate someone of another opinion besides their own.
Not to often do I give stars. Maybe I should start. Thanks for the thought.

I'll admit...sometimes I get so caught up in the interesting questions and pondering my answers to them, that I forget about the starring function altogether...thanks for reminding me! : )

If it gives me something new to think about or some question itself, answers many of my questions and subjects of discussions.

I starred your last question Trina, because it elicited answers with thought in them; it was a genuine philosophical problem.
