An excellent comedian. He actually won a medal for some courageous action as a C47 (Dakota) pilot at the battle of Arnhem !

I certainly do. I actually saw him live in theatre, in the days when theatres really did exist.
As a comedian, he was not everybody's 'cup of tea' but I always found him quite funny, particularly working with others.
Whatever part he happened to be playing, he was always the same character, so parts had to written round him.
He'd give some of today's comics a run for their money!

Yes I remember him. He was in a lot of radio shows in the 1950's. "The Glums" was one of them ,great to listen to on the old radio. It turned out he was a Homosexual. Didn't know that at the time he was broadcasting, it was after he left the BBC that it all became public. Great comedian though.
