About 2 weeks before Christmas. Make sure you get a good stand that holds water! You get your tree home and are ready to place it in the stand, saw about an inch or two off the bottom. A fresh cut will suck water better. Check the water bowl atleast two times a day. a tree will suck lots of water. Do not let the water level drop below the tree cut! It will lose the siphon action.

Just before you put it in the stand cut about 1/2 to 1 inch off the bottom so there isn't any sap covering the end. This allows water to move up into the tree.
Always keep the water full, they drink quite a bit, especially the first day or so.
Don't put it close to a heat source like a radiator, register, or stove.
Use the miniature lights because they are cooler than the large ones. Don't leave the lights on all the time either.
Keep the cat and dog away, they like to knock it down. (4 cats and 2 dogs here)
I guess that covers what I know, that's why I got an artificial one after 25 years of real ones.

I definitely have six cats, and that they basically choose to camp out under the tree between the provides, as a substitute of mountain climbing it. I recommend, although, which you utilize unbreakable embellishes this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, a minimum of close to the backside, so as that there are no issues could desire to any be knocked off. additionally, mylar/plastic tinsel is a no-no; cats attempt to eat it and it may desire to reason issues. I recommend getting the twisted steel tinsel (reproductions of the unique stuff is substantially attainable around holiday time); the main they could do is discover it for batting prepare. One final element: save a sprig bottle of water reachable. If the kitten *does* attempt to climb the tree, squirt it with water. It won't harm the kitten, even though it *will* coach him to no longer climb the tree. chuffed Christmas!

I hope this one doesn't catch fire too. I'd say two weeks before Christmas and keep it watered, watered, watered!
