I won't bother to answer because it will have already been said, and when you look through the answers, it has!
When there's been 30 to 40 answers, you know the Question has probably been resolved so I don't see the point
(pardon the pun) of typing what someone else has already said, just to earn points.
That is why I don't have many points and, to me, this was never the objective. I genuinely have bona fida Q's to ask, not many I grant you, and I generally don't give trite, repeated answers.
I love to dabble on here but how people come up with Q after Q beats me. There are sometimes 7 in a row! How do they think of them all.
They must be far brainier than me.

When I have a few free minutes, I look at the questions and try to give an answer. I don't look at what anyone else wrote. If it's serious or trivial, it doesn't matter to me. I'm not trying to win, just having fun and maybe helping somebody else at the same time. Like you, I don't have a lot of time to spend here, just now and then. If there was a category for Best Question, I'd give you a winner. Just to see you smile...:)

I know what you mean... I take great care in thinking of a suitable answer and then I go off and type it in and then I check all the others answers and someone else has said the same.

I have just done this with a question about noisy old people, after my answer was submitted someone else had said the same, makes you feel like you have copied.....still if you think that you are helping you are bound to get similar answers..
As regards to thinking up questions in a row, I dont let it bother me....some people are better at questions and some are better at the answers.
I think it does depend on how much free time you have, the longer you stay on here the quicker you become at answering the questions and in so doing you get an idea of what sort of questions people like to ask.
You do open yourself up when asking questions, sometimes people will get the wrong idea and go off on one.
The other day I genuinly tried to answer one about Catholics and Jehovah witness's, oh boy did I rattle a cage or two....
Next thing was I got a threatening e.mail from a j.w. I could not reply back as they would not accept incoming.
I was shocked that someone who was supposed to love God could been so nasty......but then I suppose it takes all sorts.
Good luck and keep sending in your replies.....

Yes I do that too unless it is a question that I really have a strong opinion about. Sometimes if I check the answers first and one or more person has answered the same as I would I give a thumbs up and move on. Coming up with questions does not make a person ''brainier''. I very seldom ask a question. And don't answer a lot of them. Some just don't interest me.
And like you I don't have the time. It is not a question of how sociable you are or are not. Some of us may have a lot more going on in our lives. I know I do. Q and A are for me ''resting'' time in between chores or at night when I am waiting for the sleep meds to kick in.

It's a rare occasion that I read the answers BEFORE I answer a question. This way I an surprised & delighted when I review my own answer with the others that were previously posted & I see that AFTER I answer, the tone of the answers sometimes changes into a "war of words" & my answer is seen as an intrusion into a formal affair & I show up wearing levi's & a simple cotton shirt.
I don't think it means that anyone is "brainier" than anyone else, as much as it says much about the mere fact that we ALL see things from a different perspective & many people read into a simple question & think of it as a person attick on their own way of thinking.
This isn't a chat room & it is difficult to join into an "organized" group who seems to be playing games & attempting to kick out the people that aren't their "friends & associates"!
I asked a question about senior rates to Catalina Island & not ONE person has dared to answer it & I have no idea why. It's a lovely tourist destination off the coast of Southern California that has a lot of History & some great vacation packages for seniors. Yet, no senior has answered.
Some days are stranger than others. Don't let it sway you.
Ask & answer as you wish & report those who would attack you in print or send you nasty emails of harrassment.

That’s your choice.

As for the “bona fide” questions, that’s your choice too. I’ve personally come to know some wise and ingenious people asking the questions I do. I’ve learned a lot from their answers. Perhaps a few here and there might be similar, each add their own individual comment that sets them apart from the rest. Often times the best laugh, the best heart warming feeling and the best lesson come in answers from the simplest of questions. I don’t recognize your name or avatar. When you ever have time, you should jump in and be more open to answer for fun. By the way points only meant something to me when I was at level one, no more.

The boys tell me I should get their mother to answer the question when she comes in from her night job, so you can take it that whatever she says she has my permission to say( she won't speak out of turn I am sure of that) after all it is her computer when all is said and done. So look out for her answer it will be well worth the wait..
This is Mrs in the Dark him and the boys as he calls them (they are thirty and twenty eight years old ,hardly boys are they) have gone down the Pub so I can tell you that I have heard of this man called Arthur who will get rid of people for a couple of shillings, so for just six shillings I could soon be shut of the three of them, trouble is they never go into a supermarket so how do I get them with in range of this Arthur, perhaps you could help?

I give my answer then I look at the other answers. That way even though I might have the same answer as 30 other people it is an original answer !!!! If I looked at the other answers first I would never answer a question These people on here are the best !!!!! The only way I can join in is to hold my nose and jump in !!!!!!

Well, occasionally I DO feel like this. But mostly I respond one on one to the question that interests me, I then post, and read other responses afterward so I'm not influenced by them a whole lot.
I can also really relate to the pondering how on earth people come up with so many questions. You referred to "7 in row!" shoot I know a poster that's going at it to the tune of a dozen questions on the board every single day! Apparently she think she's SUPPOSED to deluge the forum with questions, as a part of being here, and most are nothing more than minutia.
She really needs to be in a chat room somewhere but hey it takes all kinds and I have zip complaints.

Inspiration comes in bursts. When I ask questions, they all seem to pop into my head at once. If I see a question already has 40 or so answers, I may skim through it but you're right in that what I would have written is already there in someone else's words.

I often read through all the answers, and sometimes I'll not answer when it seems like I have nothing to add. I do add my
'thumbs-up' to the answers I agree with. I haven't thought up all that many questions, either. However, I've been pleased with the answers I do get to my limited number of questions...;)
