That would be unconstitutional.
I live in a big urban west coast city. The public schools are underfunded. They are in need of infrastructure improvements, text book and supplies and funding for art, atheletics and after school programs. What is learned in these schools is how to survive surrounded by thugs, gangs and low moral.
In these conditions parents do whatever they can to get their kids into parochial (usually Catholic) schools or get fininancial aid for private schools. Or you move to the suburbs where public schools are a little better funded but still are "teaching to the test" (no child left behind.)

I definately think "no," on this one.

The government should have NO say in the operations of private schooling. As long as private schools are meeting/exceeding education standards and uphold certain standards/laws.....Government should have nothing to do with it then.

I think that if government can't do much to improve PUBLIC schools, and the US is currently ranked like 26th or something in the world in education.... Find someone that can give you an honestly good answer as to why government should ban private schooling at ANY level! lol. Good luck on your debate.

that would shackle parents into the present public schools more than they are at present.!!

whenever a supplier of any good [education in this case] is given a monopsony [sole seller] position over a significant period, the seller 'captures' the business and ends up operating it for his benefit.

Examples: unionized labor had, at one time, 'captured' nearly all of the capital intensive industries in America. An auto plant's physical equipment is, in essence, useless for any other purpose and lasts for years or decades. As the sole supplier of labor to the auto companies from 1955 thru 1973, the UAW had jacked up wages so far that the resulting automobiles were no longer competitive [price/value] with imports from Japan. UAW labor has fallen from about 90% of the US auto market to about 35% and is in danger of falling to zero in the next several decades.

schooling would not be different. banning all private schools would lower overall quality and increase cost per pupil.

***
not to mention that you'd have to use the police to prevent other schooling and/or get some parents to send their kids at all and then we'd be like any other socialist police state.

No, while I have nothing wrong with the public school system I believe in a free country one should have options such as public, private, religion based, or home study schooling for elementary level children.

Why would they want to in a free society? should the government be allowed to feed propaganda to students with out any oversight at all? Should the government be allowed to limit the education of its citizens on a whim? Why should the government be the sole unchallenged arbitrator of what our children learn? Do you think that failing schools should be propped up by the government just to please the teachers unions?

No, isnt that taking away the "choice" people are always screaming about?

If you take away the option of private school, then you would once again be taking away rewards for hard work and teling everyone they are the same no matter how well they apply themselves in life.

in my opinion i think of it is going to be any different way around. Ban government faculties. they have tutor to be depressing disasters and a waste of taxpayer funds. provide administration of faculties back to the community districts. for financing and administration of instructor's. get rid of tenures, attempt instructors for awareness for what their coaching. Pay point in accordance to practise and skillability score.

1. I don't believe they have the authority to do so.
2. Even if they do have the authority why ban something that produces superior students when compared to public schools.

Should the voters ban public education at all levels?
