* I don't know if anyone will get this far to read answers, but listen up:
1. Silver is NOT purer than gold (or vice versa). Each is an element. The silver you wear (sterling) is alloyed with copper (from 8 to 15%) to give it strength. So is gold. Pure gold is 24 carat. 10 carat gold (common in rings) is 10 parts in 24 (42%) gold.
2. Platinum is another element - rarer than gold. Not part of this survey.
3. White gold in nothing but gold alloyed with nickel to make it look like silver or platinum.
4. The value of silver has trebled in the last 7 years. Gold hasn't.

White Gold. I am getting ready to trade in all my yellow gold for white gold. Silver tarnishes. I like my real jewelry and diamonds. Always go with the real stuff.
