My son went out for his freshman HS wrestling team but we got some bad news. He has a skin infection (tinea versicolor) and the doctor says he can't wrestle for 4 weeks. I'm afraid he'll quit the team and not give the sport a chance. What can he do for conditioning for the next month to stay in shape and hopefully catch up to the rest of his teammates once he's given the OK to wrestle again. Or, is this a lost cause (I hope not)?

You should have him workout in the schoo gym with the other wrestlers, have him go to all of the practices with the team, or he might be a lost cause.

Hope he gets better!

Things happen in sports. You get injuries and such. But you don't quit the team because of it. So just tell him that when he gets to go back. He'll do great. Sorry, I'm not that great at pep-talks.

Just to reiterate what has already been said- troubles are no reason to quit, they are reason to push harder.
