All of these people are liars, we all want to spoil our kids that's why I became a parent. I want Kings on my Super Super Sweet 16 screaming because I bought her the wrong color car.
So you never said the pink Ipod Nano or a new cell phone both and the laptop would be too much for a 6 year old don't you think?

Not consciously no. When they were younger (they're ALL growed up now..waaaahhhhh!) I admit I would go overboard. Not based on what the other kids had but by what my kids were talking about. Truthfully, some of the stuff was for me too (like certain games...hey, I'm still a kid at heart even now!) So..when I think about it..since they told me what they wanted, and they probably based that on what others had...hmmm...maybe I did compete with other parents.
Sigh. Kids....how do they learn to be master manipulators at such a young age?? Surely not through us, the parents...
;)

No. I can't compete in that category. I just try to be a better dad than most despite my shortcomings. When I buy my son something, it's all about providing him with an experience, rather than competing with the (Vivi) Jones'.

I'm having such a hard time this year that I don't even know how I'm going to make Christmas work. I haven't even started shopping. But if I have the money, I spoil my kids.

Not at all! I'm broka than a muh fuh...I wish I could get a lot of stuff for my babies, but at least this way, they won't be rotten and materialistic.
Not saying yours will be, but I've known some rotten materialistic brats... Two of my cousins for a prime example...

Nope, not at all. They love what they get, not how much they get of it. Now their grandparents on the other hand... lol They all go a bit overboard!
