Poverty CAN be eradicated, but not under a global capitalist system. Moreover, it probably never WILL be eradicated. It takes too much effort and too much doing-something-for-nothing. In fact, at this very moment, we produce enough food to feed everyone, to eliminate world hunger. But thousands of tons rot in storage while people starve to death. Why? Because the people who are starving can't pay to move that food from where it is being stored to where they can get it. And even if they could move it, they can't buy it once it's there. So, in conclusion, yes, poverty CAN be eliminated, but there is a difference between CAN and WILL. Poverty WILL not be eliminated. Such is capitalism.

Poverty has always existed - like war - and nothing's going to change. There are always philanthropists who actually do something about it up to a certain degree, but there are a limited number of those. Even wealth can disappear ovenight - take all the disaster zones like the parts of the world hit by hurricanes and cyclones, etc. All that can be done is a change of attitude - poor people who are healthy might be glad to be healthy, for example.

Poverty will never be eradicated.
There's a group of homeless people who camp out a 1/2 mile from a shelter that has free food, free lodging, a TV, and a job program that guarantees a job if you promise to just SHOW UP.
Instead of going to the shelter they camp under a bridge and drink and beg for money.
People who think you can end poverty have their head in the sand.

well they have this new stuff called nutty something or the other that holds for years and its working. i think that the cause of world hunger is the Africans just keep having kids even when they have aids. those people come from the greatest place on earth they claim there is plenty of food there but the tribes will not get off the lands where they live and move closer to where the food is this would mean the chiefs whould have no power over his skinny little starveing people.so what im saying is change the people and that wont happen but if it did they wouldnt starve. none of them asked to be born. we need to hand out condoms then food ..

Hunger will never be eradicated from Africa, for example as the climate is never going to improve so that they can develop agricultural land.
It is the poor that have larger families so that there is more bodies to send out to work, but then it also means more mouths to feed - what a sad vicious cycle.

yes, if all of the celebrities around the world gave a small portion of their wealth rather than buying another summer home or a golden yacht all poverty would be eradicated overnight
