I have recently received a job offer from a legit furniture company located in England. In this position I will be their agent in the US which entails processing orders. Part of the position involves making deposits in my name from the customers, which when cleared will then be forwarded to the company. This sounds very fishy, has anyone heard of such a thing??

in todays market, any company world wide can and does accept credit cards for orders.
40 - 30 yrs ago u may have done this , if u were an agent for said company but even then the money would have gone into a 'company account' not urs

Definitely heard of this SCAM. The deposits might look like they have cleared, but they can take a month or two to actually bounce, and you'll be out the money you've sent off. This is NOT a legitimate job. Don't do it - you are being scammed.

YES, this is a scam! Walk away! No company in the world does business this way. Payments always go directly to the corporation, they don't use individuals (and their names) as the depositor. Even if legit, the IRS would be on your door step asking for taxes, business licenses, etc. and you would be on the hook for this not that company. IT IS A TOTAL SCAM, they are going to rob you in the end. They want this is your name so the money is untraceable to them.

My father got a letter years ago from someone in Africa and actually took it to a lawyer to find out if it was legit. The lawyer told him that if the letter was truthful and he participated in the plan, he could end up in jail.
