What were the three biggest mistakes that the British political and military leaders made between 1775 and 1783?

It's for homework...
I could only think of the Battle at Saratoga and how Burgoyne surrendered but I'm actually not even sure if that's right.

Ha. I suck at social studies :D
Help please?

They made a lot of mistakes, but the 3 that I can think of are:
1.They taxed the colonies and tried to control commerce- all exports and imports had to go through Britain first to be taxed.
2. The British took people and property-men were forced to serve in the British military against their will.
Private homes were taken for the governors and high level officers.
3. The British soldiers did not adapt their fighting style to the tactics adapted by the colonials from fighting with American Indians.
I think you should really read your history books and do research on the internet instead of asking for answers.
If you know past history, you might be able to keep it from happening again.

Over estimated the ability of the British Army which was already fighting France, under estimate the colonial (American) military by using European standards and to be honest the money raised from the taxes were not enough to go to war over. The taxes was more to encourage them to buy English things transported on English ships then to actually raise revenue. The harsh actions taken in the South by English loyalist and troops angered a lot of the frontier people who were actually staying more out of it, then threatened the Kentucky and Tennessee areas areas to not get involved after about a hundred did cross the mountains to fight, or else they would burn and destroy the area. Actually upset the people and they sent about 1,100 over the mountains and they basically wiped him out at Kings Mountain.

1. Arrogance. They were the super power of their day. However arrogance is always a mistake. Bright red coats and an inability to fight a guerrilla war didn't help.
2. Inexplicable delays in following up victories. Howe’s caution prevented the British from crushing the rebellion in 1776.
2. Cornwallis's decision to reduce troop strength in the North. The war was won by America in the Southern colonies.
