I have a peugeot 106 automatic and today whilst driving, all of a sudden it started knocking throught the body of the car. Then after about 5 or 6 miles the steering wheel started shaking even at low speeds, and then after a further 3 miles a squeaking sound began and it seems to be getting worse, the knocking is not constant it's when I release the accelerator that it knocks.
When car is idle there appears to be nothing wrong, it's just when driving.
I have new breaks, new back box and rest of the exhaust is sound.
I have not managed to find any help on line so any links would be appreciated.

what variety of automobile(make, type, 3 hundred and sixty 5 days), What engine, What transmission? is that this sound present once you're stopped? evidently there may be some inner harm to the engine. reckoning on your solutions to the above, i might say that the noise you're listening to is the two a rod bearing or a piston wrist pin. As you accel or decel in kit there's a relentless resistance or tension on the engine protecting those factors tighter and lowering the noise. there are a number of different opportunities yet this may be my preliminary concept. At that maximum all of those different opportunities contain inner engine harm. have you ever checked or replaced the oil at present?

See, my sisters 106 diesel non-auto does that too, i thought it was her bearings but she was told it was her gear box. Is it worse when turning corners? I'd say it seems to be with the 'gears' i see others have called it the auto box, is that correct? I'm a girl, i dont know much about cars :P

it sound like you have unbalanced a wheel or hit a hole or something,
the tyres and wheels are balanced when new with lead weights on the rims to make them run smooth if you hit a curb they fall off causing the stearing wheel to wobble,

it could be a drive shaft problem, or it could be something to do with the suspension arms. but by the sound of it, its not as serious as the suspension.
