I don't want to solve, I just want to simplify, if that makes sense.

Make sure you put in parenthesis() when you ask this question.

I am guessing

[(9-a)/b ] / [ 27/b]

Multipy both top and bottom by [b/27]

[b/27] / [b/27] =1

Since it equals 1, we do not change the value and we also cancel the bottom out. ( it changes to 1)

[(9-a)/b ] *[b/27] / [ 27/b] * [b/27]

[(9-a)/b ] *[b/27] / [1/1]

[(9-a)/b ] *[b/27] / 1

[(9-a)/b ] *[b/27]

b cancels out

(9-a)/27

(9 - a/b) / (27/b)
easiest way is to multiply numerator and denominator by b
this will result in
b(9-a/b) / b(27/b) = (9b-a) / (27b)

this could be simplified into two seperate fractions, but cannot be solved as there are more variables (2) than equations (1)

find a common denominator for 9 - a/b
then subract them

9 - a/b
=9b/b - a/b
= (9b-a)/b

multiply this by the reciprocal of 27/b

(9b-a)/b * b/27
=b(9b-a)/27b

the b outside the brackets in the numerator cancels with the b in the denominator so you're left with

(9b-a)/27

Brackets should be used to clarify question:-
[ (9 - a) / b ] / ( 27 / b )
[ (9 - a) / b ] x [ b / 27 ]
(9 - a) / 27

simplify 9- a/b over 27/b
Solution:
(9 - a/b)/(27/b)
= (9 - a/b)b/(27/b)b
= (9b - a)/27b ANS
