i do know how to play, just wondering if many people do, and if its worth the time it takes to improve.

I used to play a lot but haven't played for years. I only played socially and the local club are too serious for me.

If you get the phone no of the secretary of your local club you can get an idea of ages and how serious they are.

It is a good game by the way.

Bridge is a good game to play and there are clubs in most areas. Usually they have three sessions. Beginners,Improve'rs, and advance. Most people go with a partner, and if you go alone you will still probably get a game but you will always be at a disadvantage to others. They usually play what is called, 'Duplicate Bridge'. This is when lots of tables are arranged with the cards already dealt and left in a a wallet for each person. North,South; East, and West. Every pair in the evening visit each table and play the same hand as the previous pair, at the end of the evening points are awarded as to how well you bid and played. One pair might bid and make 4 hearts, the next might bid and make three no trumps. 4 hearts is 120 points three no trumps 100 points so 4 hearts is the top. But three no trumps with an overtrick is 130 points in which case that would be top

It is a good way to meet people. I met some of my best friends playing bridge.
If you'd like to find a club in your area go to acbl.org. That is the website for the American Contract Bridge League. They have a list of bridge clubs throughout North America and free "learn to play" software.

I played it at school believe it or not, and it's a great card game full of skill and deduction. The best way to learn would be to join a club as it's a graet way to meet people. In addition there are loads of software programmes available for you to play on your own, or online.

My view is.....go for it.
