How can i protect my photos online from theft?

Hi

I would really like to protect my photos online, and preventing them from being stolen and used by others, im quite interested in watermarking but does anyone know of a free easy way to do this online?

The pictures im wanting to protect are those that are on my pregnancy journal web page some are of my unborn baby however Ive learnt that some freaky person has been stealing peoples pics and pretending that they are hers.

Even if you can't right click there are still some applications you can get that will save every image on the page and every linked image. I use such a program just to make things quicker when collecting galleries of hot naked babes. Even if the image isn't right clickable it is still copied and saved into a folder. Even when a picture is really stubborn I can still find it in temp. internet files. I just clear the cache and go back to the page, then I find it in the recently emptied folder tree and copy it out. I've seen pics that have been broken up into multiple panels that fit together like a puzzle so that if you right click in different areas on it you get a different file with a small piece of the whole. In those cases I use the old fashion Print Screen key and then paste as a new image in paint, photoshop, whatever.

The simple answer is that you cant. Photos can always be copied (even if your page has right click protection and things like that). The watermarking can always be undone in photoshop unless it is to the extent that the photo is obscured. If these are just personal photos of family etc then just store them in a password protected album, but if you are wanting to show of your work and make money from it then you should just try to sell prints and hope that people don't copy them. Use low quality previews at a low resolution as teasers so people will be less likely to steal them.

If your photos are online they can always be screenshotted and then edited.

There is no way to protect photos online.
Even with software such as right click protection, you can still drag and drop into paint for example, so people CAN still steal them ... very easily.
The best thing is to not put any photos at all online.
Is there really much point on that anyway?
You could try adding your 'tag' to the picture, but these can be easily wiped out on paint simply by using the same background colour.

It is very admirable that you want to protect photo's you have taken, but if you look around a little you will see that if you are interested in protecting them why would you post any of them on the internet.
Look at Webshot's there are literally millions of photo's, some are protected some are not.
The truth of the matter is, if someone wants to use them unles you have enough money to go after the perpretator you are really wasting your time.
So if you don't want them used don't post them.
It is very easy to use others photos and very hard to put a stop to or catch them.

just use .net paint etc

make a new layer.. water mark them. not sure if irfanview does it, does loads of things =)

but better way is not to put em online .. photobucket etc or one of the online gallery things aren't bad.

just make it so you have to have a "view" password to gain access to em, probably in privacy settings.

There is a way where you can make your photo un-right clickable(lol) which means that if someone wants to use it or save it, they won't get options of what to do with the pic. when they right click it...

It really isn't easy. try editing them & add your signature on the photo itself.
