When I was a kid we had the star with all of the different colored lights on it and silver shiny stuff. Now, I put an angel on top because I like to remember the Angel Gabriel. But, there's nothing wrong with a star - that's a great symbol too. I guess I just needed a new tradition and I saw an angel at the top of someone's tree and thought - yeah - I love it!

We are secular observers of Christmas, so we use a star. We were given a slightly irregular tree-top angel and I upgraded her to an Archangel with functional sized wings and the properly sized head, but now she is too heavy and tall for the tree top (LOL). I do not believe in angels, but I don't mind them as a graphic element - they are like "air nymphs."

We usually put an angel on top of our tree, but sadly it broke two years ago. We've been putting a star on top of our tree since.

My family will put an angel on top of their tree. When I have my own tree (hopefully next year), I will put a star. I think angels look tacky, personally.
