I feel like I can't function in everyday activities, like work & school. I already have my Bachelor's degree, but I had a low GPA, due to my disability. It feels like everything is hard to me. Is this a mental blockage or what? I would like to go to Grad School & get my Master's degree & get a PhD, but looking @ my school's course descriptions, I freak out. I feel dumb. I think I'd be wasting my time if I continue with school because I don't think I'll make it to Grad School since I don't do well on research papers & I feel like the GRE is too difficult. It seems like I can't function normally like other people, & as far as employment goes, I can't keep a job because people say I work too slow. If I were to rush, anxiety would kick in & I'd have a panic attack or accidentally mess up or break something. I'm getting disability benefits, but I don't want to make such small income for the rest of my life. I want to know how I can make myself more functional.

Of course it is not abnormal to feel that way. Many of us feel that life is difficult. It is a little more difficult for you because of your disabilities but you have come so very far. I remember a lot of the stuff you said about your family life growing up. I think it is awesome that you have finished college all on your own. If you can do that, you can probably do anything. You need to find your niche. There are some jobs where you can work at your own speed and people would appreciate it you for yourself. Perhaps you can develop your own business and work at home or in your own office. It would be worth looking into.

Keep remembering what you have accomplished in life.

the fact is, some things are easier for some more than others. it just means you may have to work harder to achieve something that is even possibly by the average person, not all that difficult.

i do not know your situation, nor do i know your handicap. i myself am considered dumb. in a world that seems to judge you on looks, money, and than education, it is a tough place for me.

but i believe there is a place for everyone. no matter what your abilities are. in fact, there are lots of things that are done best when done slow. the hard part is finding something that is both slow and that you enjoy. even people with college degrees may spend many years doing jobs that are not in their career interest.

you need to decide if what you are working for in college, your degree, is worth the work. i believe you can obtain it if you wish too. you might have to work extra hard, but it is within your reach, if you want it.

It sounds like you have very very low self esteem. The fact that you have a bachelor's degree says that you are very capable. You just need to know that you are. Have you tried counseling and or a support group? You may just need to know there are others out there just like you and there are people out there who believe in you.
If you tell a person over and over and over again that they are going to fail, they will because it is expected of them. If you tell they are going to suceed eventually they will.
Most people don't realize the impact that they have on others, be it children, family or friends. It seems to me like you may need help discovering what you are good at, and then needing to know that YOU REALLY ARE GOOD AT IT!
If you don't have any family or friend support, talk to a counselor who can set you up with some type of support system and watch how far you will go.
I know how you feel, I have felt like that most of my life, and I certain don't have a Bachelor's in anything other then housekeeping and child rearing!

I really would like to spend time in the Hindu-Kush. I want to walk through the African veld. I would also like to be an Oxford Don, run a 3 minute mile, play polo and be an international pop star. However all I have is a loving family, secure, and realistic residence, and a quite interesting and sometimes mentally challenging job.
Has life dealt me a cruel blow, or have I dealt with the cards given to me?
