Basically a glorified type writer whos files I can save to disk and then use on my home computer later. Money is the key here.

Yes, ebay is good. But really try to get get a NEW one, please avoid used laptops. I bought one and it worked great for 10 months, then crahsed really bad. I've heard that the previous owner may have spilled liquid in it and the liquid can take weeks or months to seep into the hard drive, etc inside. You never know with a used laptop how the previous guy treated it.

With that, check out Overstock.com. They have phenomenal deals right now on laptops running WinXP (avoid Vista). Cheap cheap cheap. www.overstock.com

Well i would look on Ebay because you really don't need a high performance notebook. You just need one that works. I would look at getting one that supports Windows XP. Some computer from 5 years ago still support XP Professional so you won't be far off the technology curve.

Hi. Answer 1 is good. Also look in your local computer shops as they may have obsolete but working machines that they may sell for very little money.
