You could call around to the banks in your area and ask. Fewer and fewer banks are returning the actual checks any more though, and even if you find one that still is, they could change that policy the next week.

The bank I deal with sends copies of the front of the checks with the statement (many to one page), and if I need a copy of the back of a check they will provide it - only had to use that once and they didn't charge for it.

There are very few banks that return actual cancelled checks. Since many transactions are done electronically, even check processing, that procedure is becoming obsolete. Most banks send copies of your cancelled checks with your statements. They serve the same purpose ... they even hold up in court.

I think you are going to find out that the checks are not even returned to the bank where they are drawn. Digital copies are taken, sent to the bank, and the bank where they are deposited destroys the paper check

Anchorbank (In the Midwest USA) still returns them but you have to ask them to do it because their "default" system does not return them.
