If you could store your consciousness in a computer when you die, would you?

I think about this question all the time. This reality doesn't seem to be to far off. But, of course, there is some irony in that statement, for what would be reality in this state. Maybe this is the next stage in the evolution in life, our greatest minds will all go into some computer; where apperance, time, space, etc. all can be altered. But what would be the point of existance then, but then again, what is the point of existance now?

Would that be beneficial to the rest of the human race? If I were Mother Theresa, Martin Luther King, Ghandi, Einstein, perhaps the world would benefit. If I were Hitler, or some other dictator, the world would not benefit. Perhaps it is better to give the next generation a try.

I couldn't think of a worse fate for my poor consciousness. I would rather store it in a tree or a stone or a gnat.
