As with many things today, microwave ovens are computer controlled. It sounds like the computer is not recognizing the control to shut off the oven. Not knowing how old the oven is, nor if it had been bumped very hard, repairing it may be more costly than purchasing a new one. Depending on the size of the oven and the wattage, the ovens are relatively inexpensive. Go to Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot to check one out.

I had the same problem and was told that the battery went bad so it won't hold a charge. by plugging it in it will run off the electricity instead of the battery. I was told the battery cost a lot so I brought a new computer and keep the other for back up in my office. As long as its plugged in it works fine. hope this helps.

It's probably broken. Recycle it and get a new one. Here in the west we have the opportunity to exploit cheap foreign labour. God bless capitalism.

The on - off switch is broken. New microwaves are very inexpensive, buy one.

that's not safe and with the abundance of inexpensive microwaves available I highly doubt yours is worth the cost of fixing...I suggest throwing it at and going to walmart or target and buying a new one.

You could just spend 50 and get a new at Lowe's... If it is a manual timer try turning the timer till it dings, if not get a new one...

I'm no expert with electronic equipment, but when mine starts causing trouble I usually hit it, smack it, or whack it. Maybe the buttons are broken. Either way it sounds like you need a new one.

That is very dangerous. Replace it! It is cheaper to replace than fix unless it is under warranty.
