I only got the shrimp 4 days ago so I haven't done a water change. It spends most of it's time on this piece of bogwood, should I poke it off (as I need to remove it to gravel vac)?

Will it hide while I'm vaccing? Obviously if the tank is dark as the lid is flipped up I won't be able to see very well.

Anyone's experience would be great, thanks!

I've just found my snail and it's safe on my heater, so it'll be fine. I'm mostly worried about the shrimp :(

Marine - don't worry, the snail is suckered to the rubbery bit at the top :)

No fried snails hehe!

I leave all of my fish and my snail and shrimp in the tank while I'm vacuuming. They just hide in the corner the whole time. It would be nice to turn a lamp on next to your tank so you can still see so you don't suck any little guys up the siphon.

Edit****
I don't know what Watt your heater is, but when it kicks on your snail could be S. Cargo if you don't get him off.

no problem i have a lagre tropical tank with shrimp and snails, the shrimp tend to live on the wood, but i reccomend getting a small tank which you can buy for about £2-$5 and put them in there till you are done. You dont want to suck them all up so i recoomened a aquarium light to you can see if you cant remove the shrimp/snail. goo dluckk

The way i do gravel cleanings, is by not flipping the hood over, but by moving it halfway back on the tank, that i still have light in there when vacuuming the gravel
That way i can still see where i'm going
Or you could get a desk lamp and put it next to your tank to provide enough light to see

Hope that helps
Good luck

get a net,and fill up a regular bowl, tupperware container, cup or pretty much any thing that can hold water and put the shrimp in there the snail will be fine without water for a long time so it will be fine.

Fill the bathtub or pore the things in the toilet.
