Not at bedtime. Okay when arising? I have fixed all clocks with soundproofng felt pads and those that still ticked too loud were taken tothe dump.
Like chinese water torture at times. am reminded of Poe's "Pendulum and the Pit." It slows down and gets louder and louder until it is absolutely unbearable.

Yes, my parents had this grandfather clock, so I'm use to the ticking, and now they are both gone, and i have it, and i love it, it's like i hear there heart beat from heaven.

I have an internal metronome (so to speak)...and the ticking doesn't match my internal rhythm. I can handle it as long as it isn't in the bedroom when I am trying to sleep. It is like Chinese water torture to me. A dripping faucet drives me crazy too.

It can be kinda theraputic in a way I think. But if you get too philosophical about it, it can be pretty depressing; time ticking on by and all that.

depends on my mood...there are times that I really put the clock behind my ear just to hear it's tick-tock..but there are times that I really don't want to hear that sound..=)

it annoys me sometimes...i try to sleep and i can't ..coz the clock is.. just there.. ticking...i have to get up and put it outside the room :(
