because social status in and of itself does not make the man. sometimes a man may not be in pristine social standing according to the status quo, but he may be a wonderful, loving , brilliant person, as opposed to a man who may be wealthy financially, but his character may not be worth the paper the money is printed on.

Are you for real? People fall in love or date or get married for all kinds of reason. If a person is dating solely for social status I for one would not even consider dating this person. A person is more than what their social status is. Just because someone is rich, or has a high paying job. It does not make that person desirable. A job can end at anytime and people go bankrupt everyday. Just because someone is poor or down on their luck does not mean that this person is not desirable. They could be the most loving, caring, generous person that you ever meet. And again money can change.

your question suggests social status is the only criteri by which women choose their dates, their can be a host of other things. evolutionary heory tells us for women social status is the most important thing when looking for a potential mate. but the evolutionary theory aside, american society of today is relatively very egalitarian and people of different classes inter mingle a lot more than lets say vitorian england.

Well it depends on the woman. In most cases if the girl already likes you before she knows your occupation, then it won't matter too much. However, even after women's rights we still see men as the main breadwinner cos whether we like it or not we still have the kids and many of us would like the option of staying home for a while to look after them without having to forfeit a decent lifestyle But you know what, AMBITION is one of the most attractive trait in men. if you are a garbage-man but you are making moves to be more then that's all a real woman could ask for

Quite a few women (and men) marry for character and love, not for social status or money. Even if you look wealthy or middle-class, it doesn't mean that you grew up that way, or share the values of people who are wealthy or middle-class.

because most hot guys think they are the ****, and they treat the girls like crap.. those girls have probably been hurt and is dating someone less valued in society, but is probably more happy and treated like a girl should?
