Practice is the key. I have got faster and more accurate over time. I do still have to glance down but mostly it's by knowing where the keys are now. I went to the library and got a Pitmans manual to learn to type. I was an adult when I took classes. Use the a Word doc on your pc and just copy from your fave book or just make up stuff. I used to have lots of pen pals I practice one by typing my letters. I always find the F & J keys each time I have a break when thinking or to just get orientated again if my mind strays. Have a look at the link below for pitmans books and check out your library.

I still type looking at the keyboard. My typing is about 30 WPM with 90% accuracy. I bought a typing software called "Mavis Bacon teaches typing." I've only done a little bit of practice but this software could probably help you get better at yping if you do a little each day.

Yes, when I was growing up they had talking typewriters. You can teach yourself by using your computer ever day. Just get something to type and practice on a blank word document on ur computer. Or go to best buy and purchase a typing cd, usually the children typing cd is cheaper, that how I taught my daughter to type her own papers in grammar school. you may also be able to find something online for free.

Yes. I didn't take typing seriously either...Then I found a typing book for a quarter at a garage sale, purchased it, practiced a for a couple of hours for a few days and have been "peck-n-find-free" every since.
You can do it with some practice...and yes, hindisght is clearer than foresight.

I did, but I didn't use software. I spent a lot of time in chatrooms when I was younger, and I was very anal about forcing myself to use proper grammar (punctuation and captialization). Eventually I learned how to type quickly (60+ words per minute) in nearly the same fashion that the typing programs teach you.
