why my parents don't like latinos from south america so much?

Ok I'm from Spain and my parents are always hating latin people from south america especially mexicans. I don't really know why.

do you honestly want to know why? well it's because the south americans ARE NOT LATINO; their language is the only thing latino about them, and that's only because when their land was being stolen from them centuries ago the spainiards forced them to speak their tongue just to benefit them. south americans calling themselves latino is like a black person from the states calling them selves "anglo saxon" because of the english language. Basically put, yo' parents don't like us dark-shaded people and if they hate south americans then i KNOW for a fact they would hate my black "you-know-what" !

FYI Mexico is in North America. Some people just like to judge or think they're better than a whole group of people.In the states Mexicans are a big scapegoat right now. Maybe you should ask them why they feel the way they do and maybe bring up the fact that we are all people and help them understand that we need to have compassion and acceptance for each other, if their hatred bothers you.

Maybe they were raised that way. Amazingly we become our parents as we get older and when we were raised with a belief, it is often ingrained in us. It might not be "right", but it's truth. I'm not saying that you don't have the ability to end the belief - you certainly do. Another thought is that perhaps they don't like their lifestyle or their culture and possibly have all too often been mistaken for being mexican...? Non-hispanics often lump all latinos together because they don't know any better.

OK. Well your parents need to learn that Mexico is in North America. That's the least they can do since Mexico opened its doors wide to so many refugees from the Franco regime.

Two continents: North America and South America. In between is an isthmus we call Central America. Mexico is in North America. Show your parents a map.

Maybe it is of little consequence to you, but there are many people here in Mexico who hate Spaniards for no special reason too.
There are hateful people everywhere. I am sorry your parents are among them.

Your parents probably feel that theirs is the "true lineage" and that the other Spanish speaking countries are 'lesser' - the language is compromised, but in fact cultures are constantly changing and evolving. There isn't any best people or place. We are all humans living on this planet. We are not all the same, but we should recognize and accept our differences and try to get along with each other.

huh thats weird....I'm mostly full Mexican execpt my grandfather was spanish. I think that is or was called "Callifornianos".....I spelled that wrong probably. Maby your' parents dont like mexicans because mexicans were origanly spanish but then they (the spanish people living in Mexico and California) revolted againts the spanish rule.... I really don't know thats my gusse, but I could most likely be wrong. Why don't you just ask them?

Some people see mexicans as lower class, especially those from Spain and Costa Rico. It's sort of like white people - southerners don't like northerners because of the differences in personalities. Of course, this doesn't apply to everyone.

because most are here "Illegally" and THATS A FACT!

I'll never understand why so many in our society think it's ok to allow "illegals" to come into our country and obtain our services without having worked and paid TAXES for those services. THATS the BIG BEEF.

Most of the ILLEGALS have less then an 8th grade education, they are usually using some sort of social program/service here that the tax payers have worked hard to support and those illegals will end up in our hospitals getting FREE health care they are breaking our hospitals, as someone has to pay the costs as they do not pay TAXES. They make cash money for their work (keep in mind they are illegal, this means they are not paying taxes or social security) so when they get old where do they get their social security retirement from?? The TAXPAYER the American citizen who busted their hump get it. The illegal takes their cash money they earn now and sends it right back into south america, thus it does not end up back into our Economy.

When young people say "years ago my family was immigrants" yes they were; however the difference was they came to America and worked and put their money back into America, they wanted to be Americans, they learned English , they became citizens. The immigrants today are "illegals" they are not becoming citizens, they are not learning English, they are committing crimes, they are impregnating our young women, they are using our social programs and services and NOT giving back to our society in fact are leeches on our society!

for me it really doesn't matter. Unless your girlfriend or bestfriend or friends are latinos and mexican. I mean, if your parents don't like that race even if its close you yours.. It's weird yes. But it will be their fault. Every race has something to offer, even if they are poor or rich, smelly or clean. It all comes down to your personal opinion.

may be it s because of the way latinos use spanish, as u night already know latinos from SA use it way different and almost all the Spanish do not like them.
