Since as most people know politics is almost entirely BS why do Dems feel that they are more "intelligent"?

I admit that the Dems rhetoric in most cases is far superior to the GOP (especially w/ Bush as President) but that just means they make the BS sound better. It doesn't make them any smarter or better than the GOP. Just better at pulling the wool over the American people's eyes.

It is difficult to listen to more than a few minutes of Hannity and Limbaugh without thinking that most people in the west are more intelligent than Republicans.

I doubt that all "Dems" feel more intelligent, but those who do probably suffer from that human condition of hubris. We are an arrogant, self-centered, gnarly gang of people in this American society. If we're Republican, Protestant, heterosexual, Caucasian or a college graduate, we automatically assume we're superior to those who are Democrat, Muslim, homosexual, black or less educated.
Unfortunately, it's that very attitude of hubris, arrogance and artificially-assumed superiority that causes all of us to be part of a civilization that is crumbling before our very eyes.
And it's that attitude of superiority that makes us blind to the reality of what's happening. Like the great Greek and Roman empires before us, this great American empire is about to collapse, thanks in large part to Americans' sonorous amorality; obsession with all things material and sexual; grand avarice; and utter and complete selfishness.

We refuse to see ourselves as part of this world. Even though we make up only 5% of the world's population, we squander 55% of the world's resources. We refuse to drive fuel-efficient vehicles. We refuse to REuse, REduce and REcycle our refuse. We refuse to acknowledge that we've been a primary cause of global warming in these past 150 years of our great industrial revolution. We refuse to admit that there are other cultures, religions, civilizations and societies that are older, wiser and better than ours. We refuse to stop bullying our way around the world in a cowardly effort to protect and preserve our "national interests". We refuse to come together as a people and destroy the monopolistic, corrupt two-party political system that has a stranglehold on our process of free government;
instead we buy into the "libs" vs. "cons" hatred, bias and bigotry that only further serves to divide our already much-too-divided country. We are a pathetic populace, and our great-grandchildren will suffer from our excess. -RKO- 11/25/07

I have no idea why Dems would think that they are "more intelligent" when you can see in every day life that the exact opposite is true.
