Light goes straight through smooth glass easily without being scattered. The frosted glass has a rough surface, and it scatters the light like zillions of mini prisms. When it gets wet, the water fills in the grooves, pits, and holes that the frosting put into the surface of the glass, making it smooth again, so the light goes straight through without being scattered.

The fix it so turn the glass around so that the frosted side is on the outside.

Or lock the bathroom door, like the first guy said.
