I'm a bit of technophone and a neophobe so I put it off for years. I didn't get one till 2004. I'm just trying to remember when they suddenly appeared. I reckon about 1997 but I could be wrong. Could it be that anyone out there DOESN'T have a mobile phone? I shake your hand if you don't.

Well, that is a long story. When I started to grow up (have not quite finished yet) there was a strange sound in the house and curious as I was I investigated. Walking along long corridors, looking into furnished and unfurnished rooms, going up stairs then down again and there it was, on top of a highly polished side table, the TELEPHONE. It was ringing in a shrill and annoying fashion. It drove me out of my mind. Firmly , using both of my hands, I gripped the monstrously sounding device, lifted it off the beautifully crafted side table. then, in one gigantic and powerful motion I ripped it from the wall and started running- - - -

I remember putting it off too. I ended up getting one when I was about 17 in 2000. There are times when I panic when I forget my phone at home, but it is a good feeling knowing that people can't contact you all the time!

hi, i got my first mobile phone in 1987 it was like a house brick and a handset together with cable, it cost nearly 3 pound per minute and had 2 hours of talk time, Mobile phones first licence in uk was given to vodafone in 1982, Pre Pay mobile phones first issued 1997

I got my first official mobile phone in about 2000-2001. But my parents had one, which was really quite bulky, back around 1998-2000.

no im 13 dnt have one, my parents reckon thta i carry one but i reli dnt want one i dnt know why, lol, i think its probs when ppl see u with a phone at quite a young age 10-16 they just get a wrong impression of u, my mates have one too, whenever i need to make an call just put 20p in the phone box and voila lol :] xxx

Got my first mobile phone in 1965. It was the size of a suitcase and would only work in my car.

I got mine on my 13th birthday, because I was going on a school trip out of state, and my parents wanted to keep track of me. I didn't want one at the time, but I got one.
